The Philadelphia QFest (July 8 - 19, 2010) is presented by the non-profit Philadelphia Cinema Alliance and offers a full program of full-length and short films and video, documentaries and animation celebrating the imagination and determination of the world's gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered communities. Entry Requirements

  • The Festival is seeking all genres - features, shorts, animation and documentaries in film or video format.
  • Feature films (either fiction or documentary) are defined as 50 minutes or longer in length.
  • Films completed in 2009 or early 2010 are eligible for submission.
  • All entries must include a completed entry form and at least one review copy of the film in DVD format.
  • Submission Deadline

    All materials for entry must be received in the Philadelphia Cinema Alliance office by 5:00 pm EDT, Friday, April 30, 2010.

    Screening Requirements

  • The Festival is able to screen films in a variety of formats, including 35-mm film, Digibeta, BetaSP and miniDV.
  • All non-English-language entries must have English subtitles for preview and presentation. Exceptions may be made for entries with little or no dialogue.

    Philadelphia QFest Juried Competition

    There is a juried competition at the Philadelphia QFest. Awards are granted in the following categories:

  • Best Feature Film - Gay Male
  • Best Feature Film - Lesbian
  • Best Documentary Film
  • Best Short Film - Gay Male
  • Best Short Film - Lesbian
  • Competition selections are made by Festival programmers. Winners will be announced at the Festival Closing Night Ceremonies on July 19. As of this time, no cash prizes are given. The Festival also has Audience Awards in similar categories, based on public balloting.

    Entry Fees

    There is no entry fee for the Philadelphia QFest.

    Shipment Packaging

    Ship DVDs in a fiberpack or bubble-pack envelope.

    International Shipments
    All entries from outside the U.S. should be sent Air Mail Registered or by a parcel or express service. The Festival cannot accept entries shipped via air freight if customs and delivery fees have not been prepaid.

    Return of Entries

    Preview tapes will not be returned unless prior arrangements have been made with festival staff.
